Co-Curricular and Extra-Curricular Activities at MHS
MHS students get involved in a wide variety of co- and extra curricular clubs and organizations. These include:
FFA. This organization of agriculture students, directed by Clarence Rudat, provides opportunities to learn and demonstrate leadership and community service. The Montague FFA chapter competes in district, regional, state and national competition, and has been one of the most successful chapters in the State for many years.
Other MHS organizations include:
Choir. MHS offers 3 different choir classes, all directed by Emma Greenwood. The Chorus has about 40 members and is open to anyone with an urge to sing. The Women's Choir is open to 28 girls, admitted through audition. Stanton Street Singers consists of 8 boys and 8 girls, selected through audition. All groups attend festivals and workshops throughout the year. They put on 3 big concerts--Christmas, Spring and Pops. The Women's Choir and Stanton Street also sing in the Talent Show, go caroling throughout the community and perform at other spontaneous and joyful events.
Yearbook. MHS offers a yearbook class directed by Jennifer Phipps. 12 students, from the junior and senior classes, are accepted to this class each year. The yearbook staff takes pictures, writes stories, sells advertising, and is generally responsible for production of the MHS Yearbook.
Student Senate. Senate members are elected by fellow students to deal with school issues and plan activities throughout the school year. Student senate has planned the Homecoming Week and dance, Coming Home, school wide elections and the Spring Fling dance.
National Honor Society. NHS members are juniors and seniors selected by faculty. Criteria include scholarship, character, service and leadership. Members complete at least 10 hours of community service in a wide variety of projects.
CSI. Directed by Trish Coppess, CSI promotes Character, Service and Integrity in the MHS community. The organization encourages students to make positive choices both in and out of school.
