Seimer Completes Science Leader Program

MHS junior Sam Seimer attended the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders program over the summer in Boston, MA.  This prestigious seminar is for future scientists and technology leaders identified by school staff.

Sam enjoyed his days immensely as he learned with other selected students from around the country.  A highlight was an address from former astronaut Col. Buzz Aldrin.

Montague High School is proud to have Sam represent us in such an admirable way.

College Board, Khan Academy team up to offer free SAT prep program

Read this link about the latest free workshops for your son/daughter to help prepare for the SAT that will be administered in March of 2016.  The SAT replaces the ACT for the mandatory test for graduation. The SAT will be the "new" college entrance exam for students across the state.  Students may still take the ACT for a score if a college/university requests, however, at least for the next 3 years the new norm will be the SAT.

FAFSA Changes for 2017-18

Starting with the 2017–18 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the application will be available earlier and will request earlier income information.

Submit a FAFSA Earlier:  Students will be able to file a 2017–18 FAFSA as early as Oct. 1, 2016, rather than beginning on Jan. 1, 2017. The earlier submission date will be a permanent change, enabling students to complete and submit a FAFSA as early as October 1 every year. (There is NO CHANGE to the 2016–17 schedule, when the FAFSA will become available January 1 as in previous years.)

Use Earlier Income Information: Beginning with the 2017–18 FAFSA, students will report income information from an earlier tax year. For example, on the 2017–18 FAFSA, students (and parents, as appropriate) will report their 2015 income information, rather than their 2016 income information.

For more information, please review the FAFSA Changes Fact Sheet for 2017-18.
